Happy August Long everyone,

A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks, so here's a quick update.

32g test results are in, and it's looking good ๐Ÿฆถ

The team crowded around a laptop on a picnic table outside, reviewing step data during the 32g testing round

We ran our 32g testing round with the team and a bunch of friends who were kind enough to lend us their shoes (and their runs). Here's where step counting landed:

โ†’ Walking: 3.8% over

โ†’ Jogging: 2.1% over

โ†’ Running: 4.5% under

โ†’ Overall: ~97.5% accurate

All within a few percent across every gait we tested, which is where we wanted to be. It also surfaced a few things in our filtering that needed changing, which is exactly why you test on real feet instead of a desk. ๐Ÿ”ฌ

Next up โ†’ York University's kinesiology lab. Right now our algo can properly tell what a step is and differentiate between walking, jogging and running. But what about GCT, stride length, max impact? How do our numbers match up against the Vicon system that gait researchers treat as the gold standard? ๐Ÿฅ‡

mylz.run got an overhaul ๐ŸŽจ

We applied to Creative Destruction Lab (fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž), which meant a refreshed pitch deck and an update on everything public facing. We've made enough progress that the old site was underselling us (though now it might be overselling us LOL).

Go take a look: mylz.run

Also some new content on IG โ†’ kinda funny imo: instagram.com/reel/DbcmB52upa3

Strava on mylz is here ๐Ÿƒ

The mylz app's Strava panel: connected account with five recently imported runs and their dates, distances and times

Easily the most requested feature. Here's how it works: we pull your runs from Strava, then show you how your gait and your shoes actually performed during each one. Not pace and distance since that's already there, but what your feet were doing and what it cost your shoes.

Stay active, stay healthy, keep logging mylz.
